Tara Deschenes, Class of 2016

Tara Deschenes is the third individual to be voted into the Salem Academy Athlete Hall of Fame. Tara arrived at Salem Academy in the Fall of 2012 as a freshman. From the second Tara stepped on campus to the time she graduated, former Athletic Director, Drew Betts was always impressed with her and the drive that she had. She is a natural leader who unapologetically pushed, motivated, and worked to succeed as a student and as an athlete at Salem Academy. She advocated for more games, new uniforms, and more sports and was one who along the way supported and worked to make each of these things happen. She never strayed away from a challenge and even when things got tough, and she absolutely faced some challenges she was always the first to take accountability. Her ability to communicate and respond to adversity is something that garnered more respect from her coaches, teachers, and peers.

Tara as an athlete was an intense competitor who had incredible success in helping start and create our school’s first-ever volleyball program. In addition, she tried her hand at basketball. On the softball field, she truly shined. She is an individual who remains the only student-athlete in MCSAO History and holds a number of school single-season and career records.
