Salem Academy Scores Top Percentages In State and National Rankings

The annual rankings are out, and Salem Academy Charter School again has been recognized as a top performing school in state and national comparisons.

U.S New and World Report surveyed 29,070 public high schools in the United States in search of the nation’s best schools. Only 92 schools made the rankings in Massachusetts and 19,000 in the nation. Salem Academy ranked 31 out 352 schools in the state winning a silver medal for being in the top 10%. Salem Academy ranked in the top 5% of the nation with a score of 650 out of 19,000. The survey considered multiple data points including math and English proficiency, college readiness, and student / teacher ratios. 

The Washington Post survey ranked the most challenging high schools in America. Salem Academy again ranked in the top 10% in Massachusetts, number 34 out 105 schools that made the list; out of 352 in the state. Nationally, Salem Academy ranked 994 among the 2,300 that made the list; out of 22,000 in the country, again in the top 5% of the nation. With 22 charter high schools in the state, Salem Academy ranked #5 out of the 7 that made the list. Sturgis Charter School, an International Baccalaureate School on Cape Cod ranked # 1 among charters and #1 in the state. The Washington Post survey was based on the ratio of AP, IB, and other high performance college entrance exams taken by members of the school’s graduating classes.
