Salem Academy’s John & Abigail Adams Scholars!

Seventeen Salem Academy seniors have qualified for John & Abigail Adams Scholarships.  The scholarship rewards students for their high academic achievement and performance on the grade 10 English Language Arts and Mathematics MCAS exams. Qualified students are entitled to four years of free tuition upon acceptance to a public Massachusetts state college or university or community college. Eligibility is based on students having scores of Proficient and (at least one) Advanced on the grade 10 ELA and Math MCAS and having combined scores on MCAS ELA and Math exams that have placed them in the top 25 percent of students in the graduating class (Class of 2015) in their district.

Adams Scholars: Uliana Certan, Jake Craven, Daniel Darmody, Precious Edebiri, Adesuwa Eghe, Itua Eghe, Roy Galang, Gabriella Gonzalez, Jennifer Gorman, Darnell Henriquez, William Lewis, Andrew Lussier, Andrew Mesrobian, Lina Nguyen, Brenda Paredes-Arce, Sarah Penley and Kaila Walters.

The 2014 Reach the Beach Relay!

Salem Academy has formed a team to run in the longest relay race in the United States this September. The race is 208 miles, winding through New Hampshire from   Cannon Mountain Ski Resort in Franconia to Hampton Beach State Park in Hampton Beach. This year’s team: Chris Anderson, Bruce Campbell, Greg Cate, Peter Copelas, Brendan Ellis, Sean Gass, Michael Higgins, Rachel Hunt, Colin Maclay, Ben Petrides, Vince Sheahan and Dan Smith. Drivers are Linda St.Pierre and Brenda Silva.  Not only is the race a team-builder and a fitness initiative, but it is also an important fundraiser.  Donations can be made online at: http://www.firstgiving.com/sacsrtb2014
