Adesuwa Eghe Received Student Award from Salem Award Foundation

Congratulations to Adesuwa Eghe, 12th grade, who received a student award from the Salem Award Foundation for Human Rights and Social Justice this past Sunday.  Adesuwa was nominated for her leadership in addressing race relations amid much publicized incidents of alleged police brutality across the nation.

The Foundation annually calls attention to modern day champions of human rights to keep alive the lessons of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.
The principal award this year was given to Filipino immigrant Jose Antonio Vargas. A Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, Vargas has become an advocate on immigration issues and the Dream Act.
Former SACS student, Cole Jermyn received the other student award for his work rebuilding homes in New Orleans.

The 2014 Reach the Beach Relay!

Salem Academy has formed a team to run in the longest relay race in the United States this September. The race is 208 miles, winding through New Hampshire from   Cannon Mountain Ski Resort in Franconia to Hampton Beach State Park in Hampton Beach. This year’s team: Chris Anderson, Bruce Campbell, Greg Cate, Peter Copelas, Brendan Ellis, Sean Gass, Michael Higgins, Rachel Hunt, Colin Maclay, Ben Petrides, Vince Sheahan and Dan Smith. Drivers are Linda St.Pierre and Brenda Silva.  Not only is the race a team-builder and a fitness initiative, but it is also an important fundraiser.  Donations can be made online at: http://www.firstgiving.com/sacsrtb2014

SACS DI Teams take 1st Place

Congratulations to both Salem Academy Destination Imagination teams for competing at the regional tournament yesterday at Beverly High School. We are proud to announce that BOTH teams took first place in their challenges and will compete at the state tournament on Saturday, March 28 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute!
